Cutting is achieved by hydraulically driving a hardened steel guillotine blade through the steel rope. The open throat WCO series offers the advantage that the tool may be placed anywhere along a length of rope without the need to withdraw the anvil pin as with the WC series. This is particularly useful for fast cutting in confined spaces. The operator must ensure that the rope stays fully in the throat during the cut.

Webtool cutters are capable of cutting chain, sections of steel and many other materials. These tools are engineeered using high tensile alloys and are polished and nickel plated for corrosion protection. Units can be supplied to meet specific customer requirements and are available in either spring return blade or hydraulic blade return format.

The double acting version is recommended for sub-sea applications.
